Seoimal Lighthouse
Seoimal Lighthouse
Geoje Island is Korea’s second largest island next to Jeju Island. It features all attributes such as sand fields, Mongdol Beach, camellia and pine tree forests and curious rock and stone beach that a beautiful island can offer. The Seoimal Lighthouse is located at the southeastern corner of the island. Oi Island, which is famous for the beautiful botanical garden, is right in front of the lighthouse, and the visitor can see even Tsusima Island in Japan on a clear day.
The Seoimal Lighthouse was installed as a staffed lighthouse in January 1944. The 15m-high lighthouse flashes the light for up to 27 miles every 20 seconds. Three lighthouse keepers operate the lighthouse.
