Hongdo Lighthouse

Hongdo is the southermost island off the southeastern coast in Korea and the heaven for black-tailed gulls. Constructed in March 1906, it was converted to an unmanned lighthouse in October 1996 and has been operated remotely from the Seoimal Lighthouse. The lighthouse is 7.9m tall and lights for up to 25 miles.

Features It is the habitat for black-tailed gulls which is the natural monument no. 335호. The area was designated as restricted zone (for protection of ecosystem) under the provisions of the Article 33 of the Cultural Heitage Protection Act
